The Ekiti State House of Assembly at its plenary has passed 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill 2.of 10 billion naira Following the consideration of the Bill by the House committee on Supply, the proposed 2023 supplematary Appropriation Bill 2 of 10Billion was passed to complement the 2023 Appropriation Bill of over 134Billion earlier passed. Leading the debate, the majority Leader of the House, Hon. Tolu Ige, representing Ekiti South West 11,said the Supplementary Bill 2 will enable the completion of some ongoing projects in the state within the short period of time which will improve the living standard of Ekiti people. Other lawmakers in their different submissions spoke extensively on the Bill which they described as right step in the right direction that will be for the betterment of Ekiti State . Meanwhile, the Ekiti State House of Assembly has called on the Government at all levels to checkmate the menace of deforestation in Ekiti State. The motion which was moved by Hon.Barr. Iyabo Fakunle Okeimen representing Ilejemeje constituency and seconded by Hon. Tunde Idowu, Ikere 11 said there is need for urgent attention of the state Government to caution the activities of illegal loggers in the State. Hon. Okiemen described deforestation as an alarming environmental issue which can lead to climatic change and reduction of Internally Generated Revenue of the state and lead to negative economic impacts in Ekiti state. Other members in their contributions condemned the activities of illegal loggers and urged the Government to put in place a Sustainable agricultural techniques and policies that will curbed the menace of illegal loggers such as Agro-forestry and Organic farming.
